JL 10" W6V2 Keeps Blowing Out

I've been having a problem with my 10" w6v2 messing up ever since I installed everything. All settings were set correctly, and the gains were set up as suggested in the manual. A multimeter was used and everything seemed good, but my sub keeps messing up. I have even taken it in to my local stereo shop and the same thing happened. The rubber surround keeps cracking around the subwoofer. This is going to be the 4th time taking it back and getting it repaired by JL. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what could be causing this problem? Im running 4 gauge wire with the 500/1 JL amp and im using the JL rca to speaker wire connection.

The subwoofer isnt blown, its the surround that keeps blowing out. Once it gets replaced, it sounds perfect. The wiring seems to be correct, and the amp is what's recommended by JL for the 10w6v2

you must be using some chemical to clen the sub or some type of fumes getting to the rubber/foam surrounding,

Nope, I dont clean it at all. The subwoofer is enclosed in a 4080 box as well, forgot to include that.

well thats the only thing that can make a sythetic material like that crack of rott over/underdrivng the sub will only blow the coil so therefore heat or chemicals are your problem did you use silicone caulk to seal the box?

I had the same issue
what you need to do with your amp is set your cross over to 75-90 Hz and I had to turn my gain down a lil
the foam surrounds are ****. if I didn't get warranty on mine I wouldn't have bought the sub again, I'm not buying JL again. Image Dynamic or focal if I can find one (bastids are hard as hell to find)

how do you have to voice coils on the back of the sub wired? if you are running then at 2oms it will be less then 1 1/2 to the amp and that amp cant hold that had the same problem with mine but i have the 750/1 hd jl amp you have to change the subs to 8 oms on the back of the wires it is not hard to do but that should work

I have the EXACT same setup as you. I've been running mine for like 2 years without a single issue though.
2 gauge wire from battery to terminal block, 4 gauge from block to amp, amp grounded in 8 places with 4 gauge wire. 2nd battery in truck, grounded with 4 gauge wire in 8 places and a 2 gauge wire running to distribution block. 2nd amp 300/2 grounded/wired same way. 4080 box etc. No problems at all.

Infrasonic filter on, gain set at ~ 2/3.
