i posted this awhile back, but i really dont know any way i can fix this problem, not sure if you guys have this problem as well...

I have 2 amps, a jl 300/4 and jl 500/1, boston acoustic pro 6.5 in front and a 10w7 for my sub... and an alpine HU, when i listen to my music and the bass is hitting hard... i get really jerky shifts.... only way to get rid of the problem is to listen to my music low... sigh

now is this bad for the car if it shifts jerky like that? im afraid it might mess up my transmission... what fix is there for this? I never had this problem in my old honda.... weird, and im sure the g35 has a strong alternator that puts out more AMPS than a stock honda. stock honda puts out like 60A on the alternator i believer? and ours is like 90A? or 110?

If so, our cars should be able to handle it, not sure why it does that when the bass hits pretty hard...

 

WHOA! OK, this is strange.

I was trying to diagnose a weird shifting problem and i thought I was going crazy because It seems like it's only when the stereo is on!

so what can that be?

they will all say that its an alternator problem

maybe you need a second battery...
seems like most people that are installing phat systems are putting in a battery in the trunk.....

Or how about using an Optima yellow top battery?

 

Are you using the stock head unit with a voltage converter to power an aftermarket system? I am, and after the original installation, my 5AT shifted into 2nd gear and stuck there. I limped to my dealer, who reported the installer had zip-tied the new stereo voltage converter to the tranny control module. Apparently the new converter causes an electric field that can interfere with the TCM. The dealer cut the zip-ties and separated the two parts, and I've had clear sailing ever since.

Now that's interesting information. Do you happen to know where that tranny control module is? Most of us who ripped out our Bose amps and have the line level converters back towards where the amps are, which I would think is well away from any tranny electronics. But I haven't had any trouble with my auto.

LOCs aren't even dealing with high power levels, so it sounds like that tranny control module is very sensitive to noise.

get a capacitor, it might solve the problem...
its a minibattery that hooks up before your amps.

I just started having the same problem as well. I'm bringing it in to my stereo guy this week to have him unzip tie the wires in the back. I hope that fixes it!!!

 

Has this only been occuring to people with an aftermarket HU?

I have a stock HU w/ a Dave Navone LOC.

 

TCM is behind the glove box. You have to remove the glove box to get to it. At least I did to attach the grounding wire kit.

Is this just with the sedan or the coupe as well? I would think a capacitor would resolve any power drain issues. That makes more sense to me than noise bothering the TCM.

I had the same problem...It's because the power isn't making a full circuit, as a result of the stock ground (from the battery) chocking it off...Add a second ground wire to the stock one (4gauge preferably) and your problems will be gone


...Oh yeah, and if you have an alternator problem, adding another battery would be the last thing you would want to do because if your alternator can't supply the factory one, then how would it supply another one? The only way to fix an alternator problem is to reduce the resistance of the current or to get a bigger one
