Thumbs up Resetting of Valet Button in Glove Compartment Resulted in Fix!

Thanks to all for the postings and threads! I have G35 2007 and the trunk would only release while pressing using the key FOB. Fortunately for me the only thing I had to do was reset the valet button in the glove compartment from On to Off and then to back On again. Thanks for the help, the time and money everyone just saved me with such a simple fix!!

There is a rubber tube that encloses the spoiler and trunk wires and connect from the body of the car to the truck lid. I'm 99% sure that some wires in there are broken. Any 2003/04 will go through this. splice back the wires and you will be fine.

@STILLENRedline - Thanks! That was the fix for me! You saved me a few hours and cigarettes!

All 03-07 coupes and 03-06 Sedans have this issue.

Brake activates trunk latch

Help! 2004 G35 Coupe I have trunk switch issues too and was going to try the wiring check but two days ago every time I step on brake the truck latch activates. What the heck is that all about?

The broken wrap on the wires is causing the brake light wire to contact the trunk latch wire.

Follow the guidance in this thread to expose the wires and fix them. I'd recommend soldering in replacement wire and use some good heatshrink wrap, but you can probably get by just wrapping the section of wires with electrical tape if you want to half-*** it.

Which fuse controls the trunk? I looked down by the pedals and behind the battery but I didn't see a label for one.
Thank you,
