I ditched that pos f90bt in a heartbeat .. i got the 8120 now and I did what VRod did (did my install months ago)

The Kenwood came with a trim ring (two, actually) and one of them I was able to just trim excess plastic away and it clipped onto the headunit nicely, then i fit it in behind the JDM unit and no more gap -- plus plenty of clearance for the motorized face of the Kenwood..

I love this G with a DDin

I think that's just the shadows from the flash. I looked at it in my car and it doesn't look crooked.

takes patience. to cut it exactly easiest thing to do is get a metal ruler. and score it multiple times with the exacto/ofla blade. testing it's durability every 3 strokes or so.
another method that I like to use is just leave it over sized and havethe trim piece fit in behind using hot glue/super glue/model glue to keep it in place.

1) what headunit do you have
2) what year G do you have
3) do you have the proprietary DDin trim ring that came with your headunit (if you have a kenwood or Z-series pioneer)

Peter....what did you do with the trim piece you made for your old F90BT (probably sell it with the F90BT?)? If you still had it laying around I'd take it off your hands for a handsome price

Jhurst --

Hey bud -- i ripped that out in a state of rage (all my frustrations with my f90bt) .. it's long gone, lol. I promise you its very easy to take a scosche DDin trim piece ($10) and trace out the opening and exacto it down with some fine sanding at the end. Just take your time with it and cut larger than necessary so you can sand down to the perfect size.

Unfortunately -- since I don't have an exact template of the JDM opening, and I don't have the JDM trim piece in front of me to try multiple "dry fittings" -- it's gunna be real hard for me to cut the scosche trim ring down to size.

the alternative is to have the scosche trim ring sit BEHIND the JDM opening in which case you wouldn't need to do anything more than fit the scosche trim ring around the F90bt headunit face (it fits REAL snug) and then bring the headunit behind the JDM trim piece and it'll look real nice -- won't be flush like my original design in the original post -- but it'll look nice.

I wonder if I could do that and then put some kind of filler in between gap and paint it. What are your thoughts?

I wouldn't put any semi-solid/liquid filler in that fashion b/c if you ever needed to take out the unit, you'd have this mess to contend with.

i really think you should pick up a few scosche rings and give it a go the way i did it the first time with the f90 .. just exacto out the shape and sand it down to size. Then get it to fit in the opening and use epoxy to fill in any gaps -- use flat black paint to cover up any flaws

I have an 05 with no dual A/C, and I'm looking for a DD kit. Looks like some of you guys got a DD w/out the DUAL button and with the stock-looking buttons. I'm looking, but can't find any of these. Any suggestions as to where to find them? And for the cheapest (without going metra)?

Thanks
