Radar detector? best one?
One of the biggest problems with the V1 is that it's WAY to sensitive. I don't know about you, but the only time I want to hear my radar is when there's actually a cop around. I don't care about automatic doors a traffic light controllers. That's where the Escort with the GPS lockout feature is great. I very rarely hear mine anymore.

I have the 9500CI which is the custom installed unit instead of the dash mount. I posted a thread about it here.

Very dope setup.... If only I had the cash to do that.
THe 9500 gave lots of false readings, did not give me steady readings, it would just go slow then BAM, full bore. Where as the V1 locks on and lets you know as it gets stronger. Seems smoother.
Few things to say about my V1. It has 3 modes, All signals; semi-logic and logic. I run mine on Logic whenever in town (and All signals outside (town/freeways). Reason I get so many signals (and i know exactly how many, thanks to counter) on V1 is because its sensitive on All signals mode. If I put it in Logic mode - it only gives me K and above (which cops use in my area).
Now remember, cops ain't stupid - they like to chill next to shopping malls as well. I live next to Vallco Shopping center, which gives out 6-8 signals in All mode, but in Logic doesnt give me any. And if there is a signal coming from Vallco area, i know there are cops right near it.

And +1 to Vallco, bring back memories of Tilt!!! Cupertino FTW!!!!
PS: I used to notice cops using "Ka" signal in south bay, but I now see "K" signal more often (specially for city/street cops Cupertino/Sunnyvale). So beware.
I have both the Beltronics STi Driver (for 2 years) and the Valentine V1 (2 month). Both have their good points and both have their bad points.
BEL STI: I like: The voice announcements for the threat;
Shielded very well which may help when driving in areas where RD is banned, VA and DC;
Smaller physical size;
Remote mute button assembly, hard wire kit, doesn't disable main display.
I don't like: since I have had my V1 I have gotten very use to the directional arrows, multiple threat band indication and multiple threat counter. The STi driver will detect multiple threats but will only display 1 threat at a time.
Valentine V1: I like: Threat direction arrows;
Threat counter;
Multiple threat band indication;
Rear facing radar antenna;
I don't like: At first the multiple threat counter, multiple threat band indication and directional arrows were confusing but after some time I got use to them;
Larger size, not by much but it has a larger "footprint";
I had to make my own remote mute button. I bought the concealed display but when it is connected the main display is disabled. I don't like this because where I have my V1 located is with in my visual scan.
Only sold by manufacturer. This good and bad I guess. At least you can shop around for the best price for the STi, make sure you by it from an authorized dealer, but with the V1 only Valentine sells it. From what I read Valentine's customer service is hit and miss as to courtesy.

I forgot to include 1 thing. The real world operation, detector range, false indications, true indications are about the same. Good luck with the V1. Like I said it will give you a whole lot of info at once but you will get used to everything real quick.
Im shocked the K40 wasnt listed.. The only one I would use other then the k40 windsheild mount,installable or the jammer listed below is the escort installable. The K40 pays for yours tickets if you get any..
now on the other hand.. this is what I currently use in my car. http://www.radarbusters.com/laser-ja...rm45xtreme.cfm
father is a hpd sgt. in houston. weve actually tried to shoot my car and he only gets false readings. well worth the money
