I don't think my problem is that bad. Lets say the OEM setup is 100%. With my clarion HU and all the scoche adapters, its 70%. WIth a nicely tuned system, that 70% does end up sounding like crap which is currently my problem.

just as i'd expected, connecting the HU's blue wire to the green/white of pin 5.
I will try it if i get time on saturday morning. i have to fix the dimmer/illum wire anyway, seems to have gotten loose.

My FM reception is also at 70% quality... my AM reception however is at 10% quality, most of the time i dont even get ANY reception! Need to fix asap....

well same situation apply to me. i can only pick up on am station here. don't know why..i guess it a common problem.

so you tried connecting the factory green/white wire to the blue wire on your aftermarket HU???? That didnt solve your issues? Seems to me like it would.

i thought i did. i was able to pick up the fm station afterward. But my AM station are crap. Can only pick up one station.

Hey reading this post late but here's what I did to fix it on my pioneer.

As for the reverse signal I tapped the wire coming from the left reverse lamp. If you take off the trunk lining you'll see the wiring.

 

I've got the same issues after installing my JVC head unit. I've double checked to make sure the antenne blue wire is correct and still have some FM and poor AM reception.
