Subs get cut off when turned up?

I have a JL Audio 500/1v1 and a JL Audio 12w6v2. with stock bose HU.
The problem just started today... when ever i turn my volume up to 14+ the sub just turns off or something or stops working as soon as the bass hit. It turns back on after i restart the car but turns off again when i turn it up. What could be the problem?

this is on a 2006 coupe.

This would be my guess as well. Check to see what the amp is doing and then let us know.

Yeah im using a Hi-Low converter. The sub doesnt even feel as strong anymore.

And ill check what the amp is doing later. And get thes gains etc...

Could it be that the sub blew or something? thats why it is acting like this?

It sounds like it could be a problem with the amp. When the sound cuts off, do any lights turn on on the amp? If you have a multimeter, use it to check voltage before and after the fuse, and use it to check how many ohms the sub is wired up to. How is the speaker wired up (series or parallel)?

after the sub stops playing the amp is still on. i think its wired to 2 ohms or 4? whatever it is factory wired to. i just took the sub out the box brand new, both voice coils are hooked up, and just put it in a box. and im not sure which way the speaker is wired up as series or parallel? how do i tell

Check to make sure your amp is grounded properly.
