CEL after installing amp and sub

CEL after installing amp and sub
I just installed a JL amp with a sub this afternoon (for reference, I have an 05 coupe with Bose). I didn't have any other stereo work before this. After finishing, the whole setup works, but I now have a CEL. Can anyone suggest what might cause this? Do I simply need to just do an ECU reset?
Thanks.
Thanks.

yes, i kept the bose head unit. i am running the power from the positive terminal on the battery. under the red cover, there were two bolts, one with something already bolted on, and another directly next to it with nothing there. i bolted my power cable onto that post and held it down with a 12mm nut that i got from autozone. should i have tapped the battery at another point?

i'll go up to autozone today and see what the deal is.
yes, i disconnected the negative during the entire install. i reconnected it once or twice so that i could move the seats back and forth, but for the most part the battery was disconnected. would the place that i mounted the power cable make a difference? i didn't mount it directly to the positive post, i mounted it further down below the second red plastic shield cover to an unoccupied bolt....

ok, i believe i have this resolved, but just to follow up in case anyone else has this issue:
i went to autozone and i was throwing code P1065 (power supply circuit - back-up ram malfunction). this seemed to confirm my theory that i had mounted the power cable at an insufficient point. for clarification, this is where i mounted it to begin with:
i thought that this might have been a bad idea, so i went home after my enlightening experience at autozone and moved the power cable like so:
i am no longer throwing a CEL so i can only assume this was the issue. i guess the first point was just too far away from the positive post at any rate, i'm sure i'm the only idiot who has ever made this mistake, but i figured i would follow up just in case. thanks to everyone for their advice and input!

I had the same thing when I was running new speaker wire. If you disconnect certain harnesses hooked up to the ECM, it will lose its memory (even with the negative cable disconnected) and throw that code. I just cleared it and it has not returned since.
The harness I disconnected was down in the passenger kick panel.

i really don't know what the deal was, but i didn't connect any harnesses in the kick panel up front - just the harness going to the stock bose amp in the trunk. regardless, it obviously had something to do with the power cable. thank god relocating the cable fixed it...i was going to be really pissed if it didn't. oh well...all's well that ends well, right?
