Hey guys im in the middle of installing the pac on my 05 g35 coupe to my kenwood ddx6019. I have a question where the directions seem to skip, how did you guys wire in the resistors? did you splice the harness on the car and connect the resistors or did you plug the resistor into the harness plug end? (how did you get it to stay in that hole?)

I spliced the harness and placed a lot of tape. Note that I didn't actually solder the resistor to the connector wire. I soldered one end of the resistor to a spare wire, then soldered that wire to the spliced wire. Taped everything very well to make sure nothing moves when you're trying to jam everything back in.

I cut one wire at the time, soldered the resistors in between and then marked the pin that they are going in with tape, after that if you wanna keep the wires from being cripple when driving it in the connector, twist the end of the wire, then put a little bit of solder on there, that will stiffen up the wire and it will go in just like a connector, just tape it after, work like a charm

What wire did you guys connect to the blue/yellow wire on the pac itself to the back of the kenwood? Is it the pink one (Ext Control)?

THANKS DOHMER!

GSedan,

Have you attempted the fix yet? I just installed the PAC unit with a Kenwood deck this weekend and my steering wheel controls work very similar to what you were describing.

Thanks.

P.S. I just found this thread, so I haven't even looked at the unit yet to see if mine was soldiered wrong.

Update -

I checked my PAC unit last night and the wire was soldiered in the correct place. So I decided to reprogram it again (actually a few more times). I decided to program the "seek up" function to the "power" button on the steering wheel.

After programing I tried the volume up button, good. Volume down, good. Mode, good. Seek up (power button), nothing, very disappointed. Track up/preset up, good. Track down/preset down, good. Then I noticed that by programming the seek button into the power button (or possibly just skipping the seek button) it allowed the track/preset buttons to work like they did when the factory HU was in.

Hope this helps someone.

I have the KDC-X693. Now that I've got the steering wheel controls to work with it and had a couple of days to monkey with it to customize some of the displays and functions, I really like it.

Make sure the little switch on the side of the box is set to #3,

Also it must be programmed for Software version 3

Press Program Button while key OFF, turn key to ACC, light will light on, Release the button, then press it 3 times, and turn the key off.

Then ,do the programming

Just trying to help, cause mine works perfectly :S

Do I have to connect the little 3.5mm "stereo style" plug if I use the blue/yellow wire connection?
