Car alarm systems

Hey guys

Just wondering what car alarm systems are good. And what counts as a good alarm system? I need one with remote start and the windows roll up and down. Thats all i require but anything additional that is cool will do too. I want a cool display that tells me whats going on with me car also. Thanks for the replies

Re: Car alarm systems

To control the windows all you need are 2 aux (-) validity channels, you DON'T need to buy a specific window module. If you keep a ground signal on the LOCK wire it will put the windows up, if you keep it on the UNLOCK wire it will put them down. As far as brands go I really like VIper, but I hear Compustart is pretty good too.

The LCD remotes are junk in my opinion. Sure they are nice, but they are big and fragile, you wouldn't believe how many customers brought them back when I used to install them

Re: Car alarm systems

this is correct. Clifford and Viper are both owned by DEI. My Viper 791XV has a 2 way remote, plus I added backup battery and proximity alarms. They also wired it to do all windows down from the remote and also all up, which the OEM doesn't

Re: Car alarm systems

how much did the backup battery cost you? also, with the backup battery, i guess then if a would-be-thief try to bypass the alarm by popping the hood and cutting the alarm wire to the battery, the alarm would still function normally? where is the backup battery stored?

I don't even know where the installer put the backup battery, but yeah, thats the gist.. if they cut the battery terminal.. the alarm would still sound. The battery wasn't too bad, $45 or so.. and I think install of it was like $40-50..but you could do it yourself I guess if you'd like.
