I've taken apart the dash before to install an Ipod Cable, and I can tell you from that experience that 4 hours is not unreasonable. Especially if you are having them replace the speaker cables. The stock speaker wires use molex connectors that are a real pain to disconnect. DIY for that alone says ~1-1.5 hours. Getting the dash apart could easily take an hour as well. I'm assuming you also are getting the steering wheel cable which has to be programmed correctly to work the HU. I was looking at having some pretty high end installers do my car and they wanted it for a day or two to do the whole system based on their experience. If anything I would be worried because that time sounds too short. If they are saying 4 hours they've probably never done a G35 before. I can't say I'd trust BB to do it, find a real pro shop or two around and at least get a quote and estimate that you can trust. You can probably just do that over the phone. Definitely worth the 20 mins it'll take you to call.

Well I want to thank you for allowing me to be of service to you today.

Allow me to introduce myself to the group. As previously posted I'm Chuck W.
I was the installer on that project. I have been installing professionally since May 20th 1989. ( I guess I am truly 'old school'). I'm kind of a laid back guy honestly and humble. I'm an MECP Advanced Certified Installer (working on my masters certification) and I'm an avid auto sound competitor (Db Drag,USACI,IASCA and MECA)- basically I get paid to have fun.

Allow me to clear the air about a few statements:

- In my years I have seen good and bad come from a lot of shops
BIG BOX and mom & pop. Many techs go from one to another...and its not fair
to just lump them in a category just because they work for one company. I have witnessed practices at a few marque shops of just butchering your pride and joy and putting a pretty bow it!!! Just remember this:

" A polished turd is still a turd "

If you are considering a shop...talk to the techs. How do they treat you...
Do they answer your questions honestly and sincerely or do they blow you off or leave a bad vibe. Remember these are they guys doing the wirk on your car.

If there are any questions I can answer for anyone...just drop me a line.

Also as I mentioned earlier---all hype aside - a quality 500 watt amp is still 500 watts. Your budget/goals decides your choice:

type A $210
type J $699

Thats $490 difference. Wonder what goodies you could do with that.

one thing though Chuck.
it seems like after i got my Headunit installed my OEM subs dont work.
is that normal?

i guess i have to purchase aftermarket subs asap?
b/c the sound coming out the speakers is clear but not as loud as it was
when i had the oem headunit.

just wondering..

hella, i was looking into getting steering wheel controls for my unit, but i believe pac says their unit is not compatible with the avic-f700bt or am i not interpreting that right?

http://pac-audio.com/productDetails....&CategoryID=29

"Pioneer AVIC-Fxxx radios do not interpret radio preset seeking commands. This is a limitation of the radio not the SWI-PS. There is no correction for this unless it comes from Pioneer. "
