Use factory satellite antenna with aftermarket?

This weekend I am installing all aftermarket audio:
HU
Amps
Speakers.

I have a Sirius Connect receiver to pair with my Pioneer HU.
On my old car it was a pain to string up the antenna for it on the roof.

Seeing as how my car already has a Sirius unit I figure I could
use the antenna form it at least, as I have read from these forums
you can NOT connect the factory Sirius receiver to an aftermarket head unit.

Instead of using the antenna pictured, is there anyway to use the factory one?
And if so, how?

I dont think you can use the factory antenna

why not try to mount the antenna above the radio?

When you remove the radio there is a spot for the factory nav antenna.

That is where I put my aftermarket GPS antenna, works fine and have never lost signal

you'd likely need an adapter - which are hard to find

Yes you can absolutely use it. Aside from the plug which you will either have to change (the housing) or trim they both do the exact same thing - Provide signal.

true they both provide signal but what if the factory is a round plug and the aftermarket is a square plug?

The plug itself is not square, it is the 'housing' of the plug.

Like I said originally it would be either a change or trim.

There are a few sites ( that escape me right now) that have various housings for these plugs if needed.

Yes, actually I have several times on different vehicles.

An atenna is an antenna. Just cut off the old plug and splice on the new plug.

There should be a little locking pin in the plug that you can pick out and remove the housing. A few cable ties and a solid mount of the unit should keep the plug in securely.
