Infiniti Navi install in an non Navi G?

Is there no way you can get the infiniti nav fitted in the G if you can get the unit from someone who wants to sell it?

Have anyone tried it and if not what makes the system so imcompatible?

Thanks

wa do u mean by incompatible..

well..you will have to take out the whole center console out..buy a new center console to fit the navi slot..and get the stock navigation..or you guys can swap center console..which would be alot less..but I doubt anyone that has one is goin to give it up..

The better route is to get the double din and install an aftermarket..

The antenna for the 04 coupe is behind the clock according to the esm. Not sure for sedan or other years but I would assume it's the same. I put my aftermarket gps antenna in the same place. But like the others have said, it'd be a whole lot of work to swap everything out. I replaced the stock bose w/ a Kenwood ddx-7015 + touchscreen nav and it works/looks great.

I think the more important question is can you remove the factory NAV from a Navi G35? There will be lots of harnesses left dangling with no place to plug in. Also, this question has never been asked, at least not to my knowledge....

As far as what makes the system so incompatible its not in the system itself, its in the factory manufacturering method discussed in sooooo many other NAV threads. I'm very happy that I chose to go with NAV when I ordered my car!

Yep its way too much work for what its worth... you are better off trading your car in for one with nav.... otherwise just get an aftermarket solution for 2-3 grand

Re: Infiniti Navi install in an non Navi G?

My first thought is, you have way too much time and money on your hands if you could even consider this. To me, a very in-demand, high priced, and easily resellable product sitting in your closet is the same as money on the floor... You can easily be a richer man if you just put the effort into reaching down and picking it up. :P

Anyway, the only things from the NAV tied to the headunit are the things for audio output and muting control. You can put in any aftermarket headunit, regardless if it has a NAV or not and the only thing you'll have to worry about is the possibly the loss of those functions from your stock NAV if your new headunit doesn't support them.
