Can i add rear deck 6x9s' to non Bose system
I was taking apart my trunk area trying to find the source of a random knocking sound (imagine that) when i noticed spaces for 6X9 speakers in the rear deck. If i mount speakers there, can i tap into the rear seat side panel speakers and by doing so will this improve the sound on my non Bose stock system. Much Thanks!

I have a g with the same set up as you and i thought about doing it back in the day also. The thing is that the factory h/u will only support 4 speakers not including the front tweeters cuz they are tied into the door speakers. so you have 2 options you can disconnect the two in the rear side panels and run the 6x9 in the back off that signal or put in a small 2 chn amp to power the rears. The amp is the better of the two options since the oem h/u will not have enough power to drive the 6x9. you cant tie the 6x9 into the side 6.5 speakers because that will drop the ohm load from 4 to 2 which will cuz the h/u to go up in smoke. The other issue with adding in the 6x9 is our decklids dont have the grill covers for the speakers. you are going to get the ones from a car with bose or use the craptastic ones that come with the aftermarket ones. In the end the cheapest and best solution for me was to put in a 10" sub and change the interior speakers to 3-ways. That gave me the clarity I was looking for along with enough bass to keep me happy but not enough to wake up the neighboors..lol. One other thing when i say cheap i need to mention that I am a car audio installer for the last ten years so i get equipment at cost. to do what i did without labor should be under $400
