alarm pagers.

i'm thinking of getting an alarm pager.. i'm not sure if an alarm pager is same as responders.
From many threads, ppl recommend Viper or Python responder. So i did some research on them but couldn't find what they do other than opening and closing.
Let me ask you some questions, guy

1) is alarm pager same as responders?
2) I found Viper 5901 for $280. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...mpaign=froogle
Do i have to pay extra for tilt sensor, jacking up sensor, and etc?
3) i live in California, how much is it for installation?
4) Why does Viper come with 2 remotes? one with screen and one with no screen.

thx guys!

The pager system is different than the responder remote. The pager actually doesn't reach as far as people think. If you have an Iphone or Blackberry, you can get the smartstart module added to the alarm/remote start and receive notifications on your phone. It still is a little buggy, but a great feature since as long as you have service, you can communicate with the car. All extra sensors are, well, extra. To do the system right by a reputable shop, its should cost around 700-1000 for all parts and labor.

Do you have this? If so, how/what are your experiences?

there are a few reviews on youtube.

i think a user on here has it...cant remember his SN

Are you going to come out side if someone is trying to break in your car

your gonna risk your health/life for a car

I had a Viper remote and the range wasnt a great as they say.

Even in a walmart it wouldnt work

I had someone out side set the alarm off and the 2 way remote i had did nothing

I tried to arm/disarm it inside walmart, nothing.

You have to be outside or be in your house.

The Viper smart start will work this way, but agian, if someone is breaking into your car are you going to stop them?

i'm looking for more security then remote start.

Can i start the engine keyless?

Anyone know how much the shock sensor, horn and tilt sensor weigh?

I've installer several of them for customers and the feedback has been great so far. These were Iphone applications since the Blackberry version is just being released. What is great about the smartstart is with the new update you should be able to get alarm notifications as well. I would not leave the remote at home and just rely on the phone since you might enter a spotty coverage area.

Another big bonus is that if someone is using your car and they lock the keys in the car, you can unlock it for them. Already had a husband unlock his car for his wife after a trip to the grocery store. He was in Texas on business, we are in Virginia.

Lots of people are having problems with StartSmart, just read all the reviews in the AppStore. I'd stay away from it until the programmers get their act together.

OP, I have the Viper 5902 installed on my car and it's great. The tilt sensor is extra, but I think it's well worth it.

how much did you pay for the installation. I found a place where it'll install it free if i get viper5901 there. Price is $341. But it's located in LA and i live in irvine...so it's kinda far away.

My install alone was like $275, but that included installing 4 extra sensors/modules.

$341 for parts and labor? Sounds a little fishy... I know the 5901 unit alone is like $240 new, and it takes 4-6 hours to install properly. That's a lot of labor time for just $100 profit lol. Do you know the owner of the shop or something?

Are you sure it's a reputable shop? I drove out almost an hour to this shop that was recommended to me by other G35 owners that got the same alarm installed on their cars. A lot of things can go wrong with this alarm if the install is rushed/installed incorrectly.

Oh, so it's like a special thing they're having. Well it is a good price, just make sure they warranty their work.

I read so many threads about ppl getting this responders installed from a shop. and many of them said they didn't install them correctly- like..red light keep staying on the dashboard, door not locking when doing something..and etc.
So i'm guessing since i'm not that crazy about REMOTE START, is there a way to just get TILT SENSOR, AUDIO SENSOR, SHOCK SENSOR(don't know if OEM SHOCK SENSOR is good enuff), and 1 way or 2 way remote... these are really i need. The installation fees are just crazy and dunno what would happen if they dun install correctly. I don't wanna be driving 40miles back and forth to get it fixed if i face a problem with installation.
So, is there a way to jus get the ones i REALLY need?
