Mid-Bass BOSE 6x9 replacement

I'm gathering all my items to replace the entire BOSE system in my '04 Coupe. I had intended on removing or disconnecting the stock 6x9's, but am having second thoughts now...especially considering I went with 2-ohm Infinity Kappa components & coaxials for the front & rear 6 1/2's. I've read on here that the Infinity Kappas just don't have that great midrange. Here's my current list of parts waiting to go in:

One old school Soundstream Reference 700 amp to push my old school round Kicker Solobaric (running at 2-ohms) in a small 1 cubic foot sealed box, which JUST fits under the rear shelf in the trunk.

A Kenwood Excelon KDC-X792 that I have. (my car doesn't have Nav)
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-eOa9cJ0...ures_and_specs

The Kappas 62.9I 2-way & 60.9CS components, along with MDF ring spacers/adapters

A Soundstream Reference 705 5-channel amp to run the cabin speakers (would only run the 705 if I delete the 6x9's & run the Kicker with the sub channel)

I'm considering keeping some 6x9's in the rear shelf to keep some midrange, but would be using dedicated mid-bass 6x9's.

I was considering the Tang Band 6x9 Neo http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=264-864 and CDT CL-69SUB but am leaning more towards the Cadence CVLW-69 http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductC...&idproduct=280

I definitely will need to measure my clearance to my 12" sub if I decide to go for the Cadence 6x9's! Whichever would be running off the single sub channel on my 705, at a 2-ohm load.

I plan on doing some sound deadening as well...but I'm conflicted on the mid-bass issue...My old Mustang 5.0 has a good Excelon Deck with older Kappa 6 1/2 doors, rear 6x8's & two Phoenix Gold DVC 12's with a decent MTX amp...as it's in a hatchback, it kicks pretty hard. I do want a clean sound system in my G35, but think I may have shot myself in the foot with getting the 2-Ohm Kappas...

Should I run the 6x9's or not? Any suggestions or tips are greatly appreciated!

I had that headunit in my previous car.

Not horrible.

I had Kappa's in the car too - 6x9's and 6.5's. Midrange was quite good, but each car has different acoustics.

So you think maybe keep the 6x9 "subs" for rear fill or possibly just run the front 6.5 components along with rear 6x9 full range in place of the rear side 6.5's? Yeah, I understand about the acoustics...some cars can sound great with just basic upgrades & others you have to really do your homework on! I'm just wanting some opinions from other people who've done similar stuff. Thanks!

Those 6x9's are actually sub woofers, they may not hit the frequencies you want to hit with mid bass. The partsexpress ones have a Frequency range of 40-350 Hz while the Cadence have a Frequency Response of 40Hz-8KHz.

Just my thoughts.

If you're putting a real subwoofer in, I'd just put sound deadener where the 6x9s used to be. I wouldn't recommend anything on the rear deck with a sub in the trunk.

So if you're going sub, try with just components up front + factory rear speakers + sub (factory 6x9's removed, deadener over the holes). Then disconnect the rear speakers to see if you prefer the front soundstage. If you like the rear speakers for fill, upgrade them as budget permits.

If you're not going to put a sub in, good 6x9's in the rear, no rear speakers and good components up front would probably be a pretty decent (albiet not very bassy) sound.

My setup

I run some infinity reference components in the doors, alpine mids (no tweeter) in the rear quarter panel, and some kenwood 6x9 in the rear deck. THEN I run a JL Audio 12w6v2 in the trunk.

I like the idea you are doing for some mid-bass, I had the same idea, but put mine in the rear quarter panels.

My opinion on this is that if you have a sub in the trunk, you don't need to use the 6x9s.

Hey what size are of speakers did you put in the rear quarter panel (the ones next to your feet when you sit in the back seat right?)

I opened them up and I think the speaker size was like 4 or 5? Something pretty small. I want to put in some 6.5's there to have better midbass as well. Did you have to cut out extra space or do some fabrication to make 6.5's fit?

I've heard of people removing the 6x9's and leaving the holes there but sound deadening the rest of the rear deck..making it more of a hatchback type car for the bass to come in through the trunk. Opinions?

The rears (side) are 6.5's, just like the front door speakers. You do need to fab (or buy) an adapter to fit standard speakers in place of the stock weird bolt pattern, or re-drill it...

I'm going to leave the stock 6x9 subs in & run them on my 705's sub channel, and use my 700 to push only the 12" Solobaric in my trunk.
