Looking good! How are you planning on finishing the panels? Carpet, vinyl, suede, etc?

i thought about it for a while, but im going oem carpet. I let my riceyness come out with the blue lights already, had to put the foot down and stop myself before i went suede. it would've looked nice, but the whole point of this build is to make it look nice and still just all functional as before, since its my dd.

otherwise i could see myself waking up in the middle of the night to go brush the suede all one direction...

the amp is only sitting on the spare until i carpet the lid, then the amp rack gets screwed on it. the wires will be secured to the lid all the way til the hinges in the back. thanks for looking out tho

yah. the original plan was to have two dampers on the sides to lift it, and a lock, just like the actual trunk... but it might be a little too expensive. ill check ebay for cheap hood dampers or maybe the junkyard...

Any idea what kind of weight you've added? I'd love to do a simple setup like this (it looks really good!) but I Autocross for half the year and couldn't let myself run with 100+ extra lbs.

It's nowhere near 100 pounds. The MDF is dense, but I doubt he's added even 30 pounds to the car.

He's right. I used lightweight mdf (called Ldf sometimes), which is more expensive but reaaally light and just as strong, and I only used 1 sheet total (weightwise. I actually went thru around 2, since some parts wouldn't fit the scraps of only the first sheet)

I carpeted the lid last night. I'll try to snap a pic once I have to go to my car to get whatever.

Disregard the carbon fiber fitment... I only put in some of the screws to check on fitment of the plexiglass with the carpet. Hence the fitment/wood underneath showing....

It is coming together very nicely. You've inspired me to do my own set up this way.

Are you only going to have one sub mounted into the sidewall of the trunk though?
