Weird Sirius SAT issue

I hope someoen here can help. My wifes 2004 MT coupe sat radio quit working. HU only showed "NO SAT" so we figured the sat unit was dead and replaced it but the replacement unit is doing the same thing.

Both units are the older style that require the SAT/TERRA antenna splitter. The strange thing is if we disconnect the splitter, either sat unit is recognized and goes to "acquiring" then finally comes up to "Antenna" which is expected.

Can a faulty splitter or antenna cause the HU to report "NO SAT"? BTW, the HU reports "NO SAT" when either Sirius unit is completely disconnected.

NO SAT fixed!

As a follow up, we ordered a new splitter on eBay (all of $3.00 shipped) and once installed, the HU saw the SAT unit, acquired signal and works fine.

So for future reference, "NO SAT" does not necessarily mean that your SAT unit is fried or that the HU is unaware that there is a SAT unit connected. Make sure your splitter is good to go before you condemn the SAT unit.

In fact, I had a shark XM antenna that I got with an old Alpine unit. We plugged it in directly to the unit (no splitter required) and worked great.

Hope this helps someone.
