Sound fading?

So ive seen this problem before but couldnt find any of the threads where it is addressed and have never seen it answered. I have a 03 coupe with the stock unit but with an aftermarket sub and amp in the back. I'm having problem because periodically my system will be playing well and then will begin to fade and the sound will become distorted. It will eventually go out and then after a while will begin to fade back in. Sometimes it will take some time when it is started up to even begin to turn on in the first place. Does anyone know what this could be or do I just need to go into the audio shop where I got my work done?

Could be your headunit going out, but that's usually cut in and out, not a fade.

If it's just the amp and sub that fades, definitely take it back.

I started having the same exact issue about 2 weeks ago, except my audio and electrical are completely stock! It only happens within 2 minutes of starting my car up.
