Need help w/ Jl 500/1 and LOC

I amp going to be adding a JL 500/1 and 2 eclipse 10" Alum to the factory clarion HU, w/ premium bose sys. My question is, I know i need an LOC, but i dont know which i better, PAC or Peripheral? Also, how many channels, 2 right? Which LOC do you guys recommend and should i use an adjustable one, like the SNI-35 for example. And last, do i need to run a remote turn on line for that amp?, i read that the JL 500/1 has an auto on sensing feature, but some people say its crap. If i do need to run a auto on line, what bose line in the trunk do i splice? I got a Coupe w/ premium bose sys. Thx alot

I too heard from a friend that auto-sensing features on car audio amps are usually crap. But connecting another remote wire shouldn't be to hard. Just tap into the blue/white wire for the Coupe. I don't know what color it is for the Sedan but just do a search on here. I'm currently using a Navone LOC and have no problems, no noise. There are some guys on here using Peripherals without any problems/noise as well. Now if you don't want to use a LOC, you can go to any authorized JL Audio dealer and they should have a cable that is wire-to-RCA. JL Audio makes it but you can make your own by just cutting up any pair of RCA cables. Just make sure you set your amp properly with either route.

Hey thx GoSooners, is there any advantage or disadvantage to using a Wire-RCA vs an LOC? how will the sound quality both ways?

Re: Need help w/ Jl 500/1 and LOC

I haven't really tested both ways but my original plan was to go with wire-to-RCA but my JL Audio dealer ran out of those cables at the time I was doing my install and I didn't want to cut up my Monster RCA cables so I just went ahead and ordered a LOC. I really have nothing to compare to but I honestly don't think my sound quality could be any better than it already is.

I would have to say though, that with a LOC, if it's not from a reputable mfr, you could have interference problems or humming due to a bad circuit within the LOC. If you go the other route with the wire-to-RCA, you may have to purchase some female to male RCA couplers if your amp will be far away from the wires you tap into.

I have put in the JL wire to RCA piece and have not had any problems.

Yes, but be sure to tap into the front or rear speakers and not the 6x9s so you can get better quality.
