4080 Sub Enclosures will no longer be sold by "4080 Enclosures"

I received my 12" 4080 Sedan enclosure yesterday, but did not receive the grill that goes in front of the sub (wasn't planning on running it anyway). I called 4080 to ask if they had forgotten to put the grill in the box and this was the answer I got:

One of the partners in 4080 recently moved out of state without telling the other business partner and hasn't been reachable. The guy who has been M.I.A. was responsible for the build of the boxes and front grills. He took the tools, jigs, know-how, etc. that were used to build the enclosures and grills with him when he left, so the other business partner has no way to continue to make the boxes.

As of yesterday there are 4 Sedan enclosures left and 3 Coupe passenger enclosures. No driver's side enclosures are avaiable for the Coupe. The Sedan ones won't come with grills, will be $25 cheaper than the price listed on their site. Not sure if the grills are avialble for the Coupe. They have a bunch of G37 enclosures left.

The owner said that he will very likely be shutting down that portion of his business since he has no way to make the enclosures anymore. If you are interested in getting one of the last 4080 enclosures you need to act quickly by contacting 4080 at (713) 828-7299.
It was really awful to hear this guy tell me about this. The 4080 enclosure is such a great products, sad to hear they won't be made anymore.

EDIT: The 4080 Sub Enclosures will still be produced, but will now be sold by another company. Thanks goodness, would have been a shame if these weren't made anymore.

I asked whether or not they were 10" or 12" and he didn't know. He only knew that there were 4 left.

One of the Coupe enclosures was purchased today already, so now there are only 2 passenger Coupe enclosures left (not sure if they are 10" or 12"). The one that was purchased was a 10".

Ugh, that sucks... can't they make a new mold form the existing enclosures?

+1 But for some reason I believe the person who actually made the boxes, will make them again.

^If he gets his life back together then maybe. His business partner thinks he had a mental breakdown.

^Who makes better sub enclosures for the G, taking into account fitment, space used in the trunk and quality? Are they produced in large quantities?

None that i know of

The problem with those custom fit enclosures are they're too damn small in airspace for your average sub.

Most 12's need atleast 1.5 cubes sealed to perform the way they're suppose to, and the 4080 box is .8

A sub is only as good as the box it's in.

For example, you picked up a w3v3 right?

Those need 1.25 sealed before sub displacement

Paying 200+ for a box that's not even made for the sub makes no sense to me.

I hear you on that, but if you don't want to take up a large chunk of your usable trunk space and the sound quality is "good enough" for you then its a great product. Its a trade off that many are willing to make.

BTW, the Sedan 12" enclosure has 1 cubic foot of space.
