Re: Everyone with Double Din.

no its not worth the trouble.
Because the new dash is only $40 or $50 while the the AC controller will still cost you over $200.

Why go through all of that cutting trouble just to save $50, plus you wont be able to go back to your stock system (incase you sell your car).

Somebody here on the forums has tried to "cut" a double-din sized hole in the stock dashboard and was unsuccessful because there are still ridges on the exterior of the square from the FM/AM/SAT buttons. the double-din square was not perfectly "square"

You can do it but its probably worth getting the doubleDIN piece anyway since you have to order the AC controller. Its only $56 or so.....

Just picked up an 03 sedan and want to find out exactly what i need to add an aftermarket HU.

What is this A/C controller you guys are talking about?
And what other parts do I need, from where?
Costs?

Much thanks.

Re: Everyone with Double Din.

As noted above, the Japan double DIN dash kit + A/C controller are the items you need to do the cleanest [IMO] aftermarket install. I just did one on my sedan, and you can see a couple of pictures of the end result in my Elipse AVN 2454 thread located in this forum.

You can get the double DIN kit and A/C controller either from J's Garage in Japan [where I got mine], or sometimes you see them pop up on eBay or here in the classifieds section. Strictly Z is also doing a pre-order / group buy right now in the thread pinned to the top of this section.

Re: Everyone with Double Din.

I, personly wont mind pay lil bit more from strictly Z, cus i rather deal with someone i can talk to in-person(in other's case? over the phone), than someone who is in other country!, i've talked to kyle while ago, try to get him to carry more stuff, and he is trying to, i would def support him cus after all, he is the one, who operate this wonderful site
