Next time do some research before you waste your money on a worthless detector.
Haha not really to be honest. Still don't understand where the hate for these are coming from? Mine alerts me long before I would ever see a cop so I don't see how these are crap. Yeah the ****ty cheap cobras probably suck but what makes you all think every cobra sucks and is a paper weight? It's been working for me and I don't have one single complaint.

He's implying you didn't do your research and bought it merely out of price. Comparing a cobra to a escort or valentine one is like comparing a kia to a ferrari. The kia's great until you drive the ferrari. Yes, the difference is that big.

Also you dont need to be able to detect 14 bands of radar.

Cops only use Ka, K and ku in europe and laser. The other bands are unless since its not used by law enforcement.

Do you really want your radar detector going off when ever someone opens there garage door?

I am telling you because at one time I used my friend's cobra and it was complete crap. It had more falses than I have ever had with my v1 over years of use. Also you think the detection is great, try a top brand. If I'm driving down a highway and a cop has constant-on I will have him detected for miles before I ever reach him. I have literally had it go off for 5 minutes while driving, think it is a weird false just to pass a cop.

i know, but instead of unclipping the invisicord wire and unhooking it from the windshield mount, i keep it plugged in to the cig lighter and just unhook the windshield clip and lay it on the ground out of sight... saves a few seconds

I am guessing you don't know what a "Mike's Mount" is....

it is a mount that clamps to your Rear View mirror shaft, and holds your Radar detector Under the rear view mirror. NO suction cups on the windshield. It hides under the mirror, with my 20% tint you cant even tell its there, but if you wanna be safe, you slide it off the mirror mount just like you would the windshield mount. then unclip the cord... But there really is no point to have to unhook it.

Thanks for all the imput guys, i ordered a 9500ix and it came about a week ago, im loving it. saved me numerous times! They have an incentive right now on the Escort website, you get an 80 dollar rebate for sending in any radar detector. So the POS cobra is gone. The 9500ix's ability to store false allerts is awesome... after driving around my local area i never get falses, if it goes off, its a cop.

Getting the hardwire kit soon

everyone has personal opinions on brands and models

no radar/laser detector is 100%

ive used V1, 8500x50 and the 9500 all of them have no chance if a cop is using instant on or laser.

I got pulled over the other day by a cop using instant on. I didnt see him at all and when I barley saw his lights my radar lit up "Ka 34.999"

If a cop leaves his radar on, then you have a much better chance, but again, not 100%

its true. i bought an 8500 x50 about a year ago and only used it for about the first month before i realized all the cops in my area use instant on. its been sitting in the box in a drawer ever since.

x50 with mikes mount is currently for sale if anyone is interested
