Pioneer AVIC-X920BT, Metra 70-7551, Axxess

Ok, So I am trying to install the Pioneer ACIV-X920BT on my G35. I have the JDM double din harness, metra 70-7551 harness, and Axxess steerign wheel controls. This is how i have my wiring done:

Legend
(M) - Metra Harness
(P) - Pioneer
(A) - Axxess

-R(M), R(P), R(A)
-Y(M), Y(P)
-O(M), O/W(P)
-BU/W(M), BU(M), BU/W(P)
-BK/W(M), BK(M), BK(P), G(P), Y/BK(P), BK(A) bypass
-RCA GRAY(M), LEFT FRONT(P)
-RCA WHITE(M), RIGHT FRONT(P)
-RCA GREEN(M), LEFT REAR(P)
-RCA VIOLET(M), RIGHT REAR(P)

Now for the steering wheel Axxess Control it says to connect the Gray/Red wire to pin 4 of the vehicle harness, the white/green wire to pin 13 of the vehicle harness, and to connect pin 11 of the vehicle harness to the ground. Would i have to cut these wire from the harness or is there a way to keep the harness?

Any suggestions on the wiring?

Cutting is the best method, since it allows you to solder and ensure a solid connection.

The buttons on the wheel work by modifying the resistance seen by the steering wheel interface, so any weak connections that can differ the resistance slightly, will lead to laggy controls or failure to work.

So i installed this on my car, i plan on finishing tomorrow morning. Now, I have 3 problems.

1. The sound is not as loud as the BOSE stereo (the bass mainly) I have connected all the grounds to a good ground, and when i turn up the radio to all the way up, it sounds a little distorted (also mainly bass)

2. I have not connected the VSS wire (blue vehicle speed sensor wire on the pioneer). Do i need to connect that? This couldnt be the reason for the sound is it?

3. There is a small open space on the bottom of the pioneer deck. How can i cover this?

You never mentioned it here, but you have an 03-04 right?

That'd mean you missed my shopping list completely, since you should have purchased the PAC ROEM-NIS2 instead of the 70-7551, the list also has the universal trim ring you need and a link where to buy it.

https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...urce-list.html

The VSS wire is the wire that is white with a green stripe that is on the same connector with the wires the Axxess connects to.

I have a 2005, and i did order the Metra 70-7551. I also ordered the universal trim onlinelast night. can i put that on after i have installed the radio and it is fully in? or does my dash have to be removed?

Also, does the VSS wire "HAVE" to be connected?

I forgot to mention also, there is a unused plug that i did not have anything to connect to, do i need to connect that to anything? I only have 3 harness (2 from the metra, and one from the A/C controls)

Thanks for your quick response and link.

I had no issues with the 70-7551 on my 05 bose with the z110BT, nor with an 05 bose coupe with the Pioneer U310BT, but there are some who have issues with just the 70-7551. You can try the PAC ROEM-NIS2 in place of the 70-7551, or just get a new amplifier, it's up to you.

Yes, you have to remove the console trim to put in the trim ring.

No you don't *HAVE* to connect it, but it's one wire, do it.

IIRC, there's the 2 that plug into the metra, 1 into the a/c, 1 that held the steering wheel controls and the VSS wire (and nav audio if equipped with nav). If there's a 5th, it's unused.

UPDATE:

So I bought the PAC ROEM NIS2, and it sound a little better than my old Bose system and WAY better than the metra harness (piece of sh*t). So for anyone out there looking to buy the 70-7551 metra harness, dont do it. Buy the PAC instead.

Here are some pics of my update:

Before I added the Universal Trim ring. Small annoying gap under the HU.

Trim does not fit perfect, I still have to modify a littel but its good for now.
