Electrical Issues, Please advise!

First of all Marry Christmas everyone, wish all of you and your families all the best!

Now, getting back to my 03 G35 AT sedan issue!

I have checked everything, I mean searched and all, and I have an idea on what to do, but just wanted one last time to see what you guys think, or any thoughts on how should I proceed!

My issue is with the heat controls not working, and the radio not working (only with steering wheel controls). Now I am aware that there is tons of information about this out there, and I checked them all, and thanks to all the contributing members about this issue, however being that it's Christmas and everyone is in generous moods, let's not throw me with: "hit the search button"!

So, to avoid paying big bucks, which especially at this time of the year I do not have a lot, what should be the easiest, least expensive solution for my problem? Do I just go to a scrap yard and pick up a controller? Is that advisable? I also checked with the dealer and the previous owner did the recall on this issue, so pretty much it's all on me now!

All I care about for right now is just the heat controls, (I am in Canada and it gets cold around here), so for the audio I could care less, just want to drive the car, and I will worry about the audio once I pay some bills and have some extra coin!

Any input would be more than appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

The climate control system is controlled by a circuit in the radio going bad. Some people get lucky with smacking the side of the radio. But if that doesnt work, you will probably need to get a used working OEM radio for the car

I am having the same issue. The lights on the center controls (heat and radio goes out) but I can still control the radio with steering wheel controls. When the lights go out and the AUTO AC kicks on no heat blows out. The lights will come back on and I can change to defrost and still no blowing air. Sometimes the air will kick on for 30 seconds then shut right back off. It worked where I could shut the car off and turn it back on and the air would blow until I turned the car off but that "trick" doesn't work anymore. The temperature in Iowa today was 12 degrees so driving to work was awful...any help that is cheaper than the dealership would be great!

I was also wondering if I bought a working unit off Ebay ($350-$400) and I installed this if it would FIX the problem

If you're asking me if the climate control right now, as we speak, is in auto mode, then yes it is, it's stuck on 23.5 degrees (cel.)

It's weird how a car like this can have such of an issue, I mean I also have a 3 series BMW E36, which is known for electrical problems, but then again it's not bloody $350+ for a freaking control unit with a double din kit, it's crazy!

Check your fuses under the battery cover. I think it was the 15amp radio control fuse. You should have a spare in the fuse panel near the pedals.

A used radio may solve the problem, but at 400 bux, just get a nismo dd kit - which will immediately resolve the climate control problem, and then save up some more money for a new head unit.

Go with the jdm dd unit. Do you have dual climate? If so, be prepared to do some soldering to remove and install that on your new controller.
