I hear the Pioneer iPod connector is horrible to use (slow as heck scrolling through songs/artists), so was thinking of this as an alternative:

I take it ipod controls are on the ipod; not on the AVIC display?

Also, anyone use this steering wheel control?

Or do you use this one?

As posted in other threads you dug up, but to reiterate here:

If you're only looking for audio, just use a simple 3.5mm to RCA y-cable. That one communicates over the IP-BUS so it may require an iPod connected to even show up as an input in the source list on the headunit.

For steering wheel controls, I recommend using the Metra Axxess ASWC instead. I used to recommend the SWI-PS, but the Axxess installs faster and much easier, for the same price. There are a few headunits (Z-1 not being one of them) where the SWI-PS is a better choice, as it supports mapping a steering wheel button to the voice recognition feature.

CD changers aren't worth it at all, when you can get an iPod for less, and store a metric****ton more on them.

Backup cameras... some people have had good success with the BOYO branded ones that lock into place as a license plate frame, but me, I just turn around. It's served me well for about 16 years now.
