New Alpine Pdx-F4 worth it vs Pdx-4.100???

I have a pdx 4.100 currently. Was wondering if I should buy the new f4 and sell my old 4.100. The new f4 has a power management processor and is said to have a higher sound quality. Also if I do keep my 4.100 does anyone know if the old pdx 4.100 will be able to stack and connect with a newer one? I plan on getting the pdx-m6 for my sub soon. Thanks

I don't know if the new PDX-F4 would produce that noticeable difference in term of SQL. Since both are digital amps, the distinguish is barely minimal.

I say keep your PDX-4.100 and get the 1.600 for the SUB

I haven't ever used any of the PDX amps so I'm just going off of reviews from people I've talked to and read. A lot of people complained about static or a high noise floor with the first series of PDX amps and the signal to noise ratio is supposedly better on the newer ones. An audible difference? Couldn't tell as I haven't used them. I'd say stick with what you have if your happy.

I use Planet Audio amps that have a tube driven preamp stage and they have a substantial amount of "hiss" to them, it doesn't really bother me at all. I'll probably change to something else someday but they do what I need them to do and sound good while doing it.

Well i only used the 4.100 for a short time and was with 2 sets of alpine type r coaxials. I dont think i remember having any hiss but its been awhile. I am just worried about it not stacking up with the 2nd generation and having to mount it somewhere else. Would be nice to save the money and put towards bass. Only thing is i dont have the 4.100 in my possession atm so have to wait on a friend to mail it to me instead of ordering a new one. Thanks for the input so far guys.

I highly doubt the two can be stacked on top of each other. I just looked at the manuals for both and they have different ways of stacking.

Yeah it kind of seemed that way. I guess i could build a little small amp rack for each where the old bose amp went. Should not be a problem with overheating in there right? I saw a vent to the left of that area going to who knows where.
