Critique my planned setup

I havent purchased anything yet, but here's what I'm about to get:

Alpine 9835
Doubldin Dash
Focal 165K2P in front doors
JL 300/2 for Focals
JL 10W7 in Justice box
JL 500/1 for 10W7
+dynamat as necessary

I plan to leave all 4 rear speakers disconnected.
I'm going to be using this system to demo a multimedia system I'm building, so I'm looking for a mix of good mix of sound quality and volume. Later on when I add my system in (1din) I'll add the oem display assembly (with my own lcd)

Anyway, anyone have any thoughts on the speakers/amps I'm planning on using?

Re: Critique my planned setup

I'd recommend bumping up the amp to the 300/4 and adding rear 6-1/2 coax for rear fill. Also remove the rear 6x9 so the sub can play thru better. Your choice in speakers is good. My personal preference would be JL XR in the front and TR's in the back.

Good Luck!

I'd throw in for the 450/4 and add rears for fill. I have the 450/4, and definitely think anything less would be too little.

As long as you are doing the 450/4, what the hell throw in the 1000/1 and two 10W7s too, because you are right anything less is too little ;-)

Re: Critique my planned setup

hmm.. i thought the latest thing was that imaging > rear fill?
if i do get rear fill, is it best to have the same speakers or the same power in the back speakers?

im kinda thinking rear fill doesnt make sense unless im going 5channel surround (which i didnt plan on doing).. but ill keep my mind open

Re: Critique my planned setup

I personally like the rear fill because it gives the sound a deeper and richer sound and feel. I found for better imaging, when you have a setup like the one in the G that doing a coax in the door and an extra set of tweeters in the stock locations helps alot. The current setup has the mid and tweeter too far apart.

Re: Critique my planned setup

I'd toss some focal ployglass 6X9s in the rear and change the 2 ch amp to a 4. I have the Focal 6.5 K2Ps up front and the poly glass in the rear... I've never listened to ANYTHING that perfect. That may not be fair though, as I also have a 31 band\6 ch digital EQ with 2 parametric EQs per channel (1/12-3 oct\+- 12bd).
