4ch Amp Recommendations SQ Use!!!$300ish
Just got my pdx 4.100 in the mail. I have own one of these already and have no problems with it. Got this one and it had a huge noise floor. The noise though becomes louder with volume and with increase of the gain on the amp itself. I have taken out the rca's and the noise/static is still there so i know its not an issue with the power wire and rca's being too close. I have checked all ground wires and nothing. I have been offered a replacement or a refund and have read the 1st gen pdx's are known for being noisy. So are there any other 4ch amps that anyone recommends around $300 that surpass the pdx? I am going for sound quality here. I am running Boston Acoustics pro60se components up front and some sr95's 6x9's in the rear deck. Thanks

Not a small footprint amp like the PDX, but:

Zuki Eleets 4 channel. Rated 5 watts x 4 channels by the eccentric builder but it was pegged at 175 x 4 on a test bench and Zed had it at 130 x 4. Ridiculous-sounding to say the least. Warm and full-bodied is the best I can put it. You can buy them direct or used on different audio sites. Lots of reviews out there too.
I had a pair that were beastly in the sedan. Two of them fit in my sedan's spare-tire well. Definitely not a small footprint like the PDX's but more SQ IMO. Unfortunately I had to sell way too soon

Oh ok cool. Would help anyhow because my rear sr95 cant handle too much so allows to me have bal/fad in the center. Im just gunna return it for a refund i guess and go ahead and grab that (soundstream) after a little more research to make sure i do want it. Not trying to have people hear me 3 blocks down the road, just want the best SQ i can get with the money i have. Thanks

Like above the Zuki Audio's are great amps but I think the 4 channel is going to be a little high at $465.
If your dead set on a small chassis amp I've used the Kenwood XR-4S and XR-1S and had zero noise issue's with them and I've never read a bad thing about them. JL Audio has the new XD amps which are the size of a textbook. If you wanted to stay with the same theme and use Boston for an amp. The current models in my opinion are ugly but the model's before were great amps. Old school Rockford Fosgate amps from around 99-01 were great. Zapco makes a couple 4 channels you could find used in that range. Arc Audio is another choice. Man, I could go forever.
I warned you in your other thread about those PDX amps!

^ I didn't see his new line of 4 channels yet, but I know that around various audio sites you can pick up a used one for ~$300 shipped. Dimensions are roughly 16" X 9" X 2.4". Worth every single penny, but I also had the opportunity to audition them in someone's car before I bought the Zukis.
The builder also has specials on 'scratch & dent' models here and there when available. These are usually great deals.
Reading around various audio sites gets you exposed to brands beyond the traditional audio manufacturers. There's a ton of quality out there without the name (or marketing budget), and usually for less $$$. I love my Sundown subs, Peerless midbasses, & Fountek mids.

How is the Kenwood XR-4S? I have been reading good things about them. Especially having no noise at all. The more power is a nice factor because the pdx is just about even or under the wattage of my comps so the kenwood would over power them a lil which is good so i know if its too much power which i probably will never even reach. Like i said im going for sound quality. Of course the smaller the footprint the better. I like clean installations but also like sq and i know i will have to compromise. Going to send the pdx back tomorrow for a full refund and order something else.
