anyone ported a 4080 box yet?

ive searched the threads but couldnt find any info on this. I know people modify the 4080 boxes to fit large basket subs(including me) but I found no info on adding a port to the 4080. I have both boxes and am thinking about porting them.

anyone here done it yet? and if so what were the results. thanks.

It would not be recomended. A ported enclosure needs more air space than a sealed one. The 4080 box is just about the right air space to be sealed, for some woofers it may be undersized.

Plus, porting a box is not as simple as drilling a hole and putting a port in it. The need to be tuned to the box enclosure size and specs of the woofer.

if you can get the size of the box and find a sub that will take a ported box that small, its worth a shot.

But most of those compact type enclosures are made to be small sealed.

as others have said.. you need a more complex layout on the inside of the box than just adding a hole.. plus a much bigger air space

yea i was planning on using one of the flexible tube type ports or using pvc like bose does. with a calculated port size and length according to the frequency and enclosure volume.
