It's not panasonic, it's Pioneer. Says so right on the front.
Pioneer AVIC-D3. A pretty solid unit. If you want info on the unit and such, there's no better place than avic411.com - http://avic411.com/index.php?/forum/28-d-series/

lol just fixed. thanks for the help, had an aftermarket in my older car...how much does it improve the sound quality ? And do any of u know if it is still hooked up to the stock bose amp or if that was bypassed ?
It won't help SQ much if it still uses the bose amp, since the bose amp's EQ totally screws up everything that goes through it.
Probably not bypassed, but you can find out easily by pulling the harnesses out (with the car off, of course!) from the bose amp under the floor carpet in the trunk and then turning the car on and seeing if it still makes sound.

I'd say it'd be pretty close if you use the speaker-level outputs from the D3 to power the speakers directly, but I'm guessing that the D3 only has four powered channels, so you'd have to choose between powering the rear 6x9's (that's what I'd do) or powering the rear speakers.
If you're going to be doing anything beyond what the previous owner did, check to see what else was done before you make your decision. Most likely he only changed out the head unit and left it running through the stock to the stock speakers. If that is the case, and you want to improve your sound your best bet will be to add aftermarket speakers as well as amplification. Adding an amp to the factory speakers is going to cause a good bit of work for very little, if any, improvement in quality. If you're going to take it all apart, put something good in there before you put it back together. The Pioneer is a pretty decent head unit, so at least that part is already done
yeah idk wut im gunna do. I remember going thru all this when I installed my last system. N i really dont feel like spending all that money again at this juncture, any cheap suggestions on what I should do to improve the audio ?
correct me if im wrong, but the back speakers are 6x9's....does that mean that they are not 8'in woofers ? Im looking for a cheap upgrade considering that there is already an aftermarket head unit in the car. Any suggestions ? I have a two channel amp and I was wondering if there is any use for it
If you've got a coupe, the speakers in the rear deck are 6x9s. There are also some speakers in the rear side panels (next to where the backseat passengers would sit) but I don't recall the dimensions.
If you want to stay on the cheap, look at used parts from DIYmobile forums, eBay, the marketplace here, etc. If your two channel is strong enough to be bridged for a sub, through a single sub in the trunk, pull the 6x9s out, don't worry about hooking up the rear side speakers, and grab a used amp/component combo for the front. Or use that 2ch on a front set of components if you dont have the bridged-power for a sub and pick up a small monoblock and sub combo. End of the day you don't really need rear-fill, especially if you never have anyone in the backseat. Mine will be coming out when I get some downtime and it's been done quite a bit in the past, no reason to throw more speakers in when you can use that money towards better speakers up front where you will hear them.
