Installed my DD, now my tail lamp fuse is blowing...Wrathernut, where are ya?

Kind of at a loss here, but I installed a kenwood double din/nav yesterday, got everything working properly, but i noticed that:

1: My dimmer doesnt work, (on any of the interior lights)

2: My tail lights are both out

3: My new JDM AC controls WORK, but the background lights don't light up.

I checked my tail lamp fuse behind the battery and it was blown, replaced it...blew right away again. I've obviously got a short somewhere, but what on earth could it be?

Let me know your input guys, im getting frustrated with this head unit!

Got it figured out, wire was pinched behind the unit and grounding the whole circuit out.

Yes it is, I realized that, but when it blew out the instant I turn the lights on, I went through three fuses already. I have a bad grounding somewhere or something is not right. OP seemed to have went through what I'm going through, I would like to be a little more informed before ripping out the dash, again. Thank you for pointing that out though, you were spot on about the fuse.

Cool

Was gone on field training when this one came out.

I'm glad to see that by merely invoking my name, the answer came to him.

Vietboi817, does the fuse blow even if the car is off when you turn the lights on?

Yes I never turned the key over. As soon as I turn the light switch on, I can hear the BZZZZZZ poof, and the fuse popped. Did that three times lol so now I'm just trying to gather some more information before ripping it back out. What are all the wires I need to ground? and what's a good place? I grounded all of them to the bracket where the base of the double din and the chassis attach.

Hmmmm... With headlights off, the fuse was fine? If so I'd start with the dimmer wire. It's the orange wire, I've been a bit busy, but I'll try to check what else in the radio is on that fuse tomorrow evening if that write isn't your problem.

When I was removing the four plugs from the back of the oem HVAC, i accidently pulled the wires out of the biggest plug because I removed the plugs the wrong way. So I tried to put them back to the plug in the correct order, it's the plug with ten wires. I looked in the manual and it's M40 or something like that. I was able to figure out most of the wires and which slot they go to except for some. I don't know what is or where the red/blue, red/yellow, solid green, and gray for. So I just guessed on the slot.

Mine is an 2004 with Bose base system (page 21), can you please help me interpret 1-10, I think I messed up between 7-10. There is not a 7 on that chart either. I could only figure out half of the abbreviations.

I'll be able to give it a check tonight and let you know, trying to read the pdf on my phone is just not working.

If you want to rule out the head unit though just unplug all the harnesses from the radio and try the headlights.

That was my first step too. Unplugged my radio and te fuse stopped popping. Mine wound up to be my dimmer wire was grounding out because my solder job came loose and came out of the shrink, it must have been touching the metal bracket or radio itself. Resoldered those wires and it stopped popping my fuse. It was a pain in the *** to do, but I managed to get it done quickly the second time disassembling my dash lol.

I ripped my dash out yesterday to make sure all of my grounds are good and indeed they are. and I made sure I grounded all of the correct wires too, so I think I must have messed up on putting the wires back into the correct slot on the big plug. And I know one of those wires is the illumination wire. Now one questions is are these wires in anyway related to the alarm system? My car won't lock or unlock with the key fob anymore. The alarm itself still arms when I lock the car manually with the key.

Here's the wiring.

7 may be unused, 9 is the shield ground, not sure on color:
