Focal 165 V2's

So I go into my local stereo shop and listen to the Focal 165 V2 speakers and fall in love with them. Unfortunately the local shop wants $450 a set. So to the internet I go.

First place I try is woofersetc.com after some good reviews here. After gettting jerked around for two weeks, I finally get frustrated and cancel my order.

Next I try onlinecarstereo.com. There site says they have some in stock, but they email me saying my order is cancelled because they don't have any in stock and aren't going to get any.

I try a few other places and it looks like these speakers are impossible to find at a good price.

So I'm writing this post to see what other speakers you guys think sound as good as these speakers for around the same price as I could find the Focal's online (~$300/set).

I'm all ears......

why do you need the V2's, u can get a good sounding set of focal components on ebay cheaper than any other place. MB quart makes some nice components as well. what are the significant changes in the new V2 model?

I got a used set of V2's on Ebay for $140. Sound and work perfectly. I would keep looking on ebay. Im sure you could even score some new ones for less than $300 there.

Re: Focal 165 V2's

Don't be surprised, but I've never bought anything off Ebay. I suppose I'll have to start looking now, since the retail stores don't seem to be carrying them or are too expensive.

I don't know what makes the V2's sound so good. I just know that they sounded better than the K2's I heard and were more reasonably priced.

I haven't listened to that many brands, so I'm sure there are some other speakers that would also sound good. I just want to make sure I hear the speakers before I buy them and I've heard the V2's.

You can't go wrong with Boston Acoustics either. If the Z6 components are too expensive for you, you can try the ProSeries components. They really do sound amazing..

Re: Focal 165 V2's

I've always like the Boston Acoustics speakers but just haven't heard any for a while. The Focal's blew me away and I'm familiar with their quality from when I've built home speakers.

I'll have to see if I can hear some Boston's and hopefully can find something I like.
