DIY: UPgrade navigation unit from 2004 to 2006!!

Hi everyone, I’m trying to upgrade my navigation unit from 2004 to 2006.
Below word file is the 2004 2006 GPS unit diagram conversion which I made.

I finished wiring that basically made new wires from the old M57 M58 pigtail, and everything is working good (has electric signals) but remain 3 areas are actually not electricity running.

I highlighted those questioning areas on diagrams.

Problem 1: on 2004, pin 17 is RGB GND, and in 2006 pin 49 is actually same function as pin 17 in 2004 but the name is different, SYNC GND. It has another wire – pin 47 for RGB GND in 2006.

I tired connect pin 17(2004) to pin 49(2006), and pin 47(2006) to GND, had no electrical response.

Problem 2: on 2004, pin 35 is the connection to display unit but has one signal wire. But in 2006, it has 2, BUS+ and BUS-.

I tired only connect pin 35(2004) to pin 69 (2006), and pin 31(2004) to pin 68(2006) as Shild, had no electrical signal.

Problem 3: either 2004 or 2006 has only one wire from NAVI to Switch, but there is some different in 2006 because it has auto up-and-down unit in the middle.

I tired connect pin 5(2004) to pin 22(2006), no electrical signal.

I don’t know if it is possible for this DIY, but please help, I want to complete it! Currently, except this 3 problem, all wires has electrical signal.

Any advises please,
Thank you!!

Are you mixing 2004 with 2006 pieces? It might be easiest to start with only 2006 parts and run wiring accordingly.

If you could run down what you are splicing together, it might help, ie: 2004 Navi Switch & Display with 2006 Navi Control Unit

But here's my best guesses for what I think you're doing..

Try pin 17(2004) to pin 47(2006) and pin 49(2006) to GND

Try pin 31(2004) to pin 70(2006)

Are you not using the 2006 auto up/down unit, or trying to bypass it?
I'd try to get a 2006 display since it has the extra wiring.

thank you for the advises.

Yes, you are right. Its very easy to get done if not mixing parts with 04. But the 06 switch' buttons are completely in different position and unable to fix in to the old interior, the display, i can just simply switch inside. I dont know is possible that just switch inside and the buttons will be fixed in the same position.

I will try to connect the wires as you say first.

If I'm not mistaken the protocol changed from the 2003-2004 to the newer systems. The older ones used RGB+sync and the new ones use RGB sync on green or something like that.
