Possible Cheap Alternative for iPod/MP3 Player for 03-07
My CD changer crapped out on me and I've been thinking of ways to at least get some other form of audio playback other than the radio with the stock head unit. I tried a few different options with no luck and I came across a solution that could technically cost as little as $10-20 so that you can use an iPod or MP3 player (or external CD player) with the OEM head unit.
There is a catch, however. That is, you need to have an amp going to your speakers...not your sub, your speakers specifically. I haven't fully tested it out, but someone may want to try. I tried it out with my sub amp, but since the speaker output is a subwoofer and will only play up until about 200HZ, I don't get any vocals or any frequency above that. However, if you have an amp hooked up to your speakers it "should" play through them...and there may be a drawback as well. Rather than having the RCA's come from your LOC into the amp, you plug in an RCA to headphone chord into the amps RCA inputs and the headphone into your media player (iPod or whatever) and you should get playback.
The drawback is that I don't think you can control the volume through the head unit, it would strictly be through your player. This may not be useful to some, especially if you don't have an amp for your speakers, like myself, and thus the other available solutions to get iPod/MP3 playback would be much more ideal. Just thought I'd share this, and again, I'm not 100% but if someone would like to try it out and report back it would be nice to know.

sound quality on fm transmitters usually suck. how about one of those ipod converters that plugs into your sat port?
for 03-04's you can just get one of those tape converter things with the wire that comes out.. it looks crappy, but works, and is $10 @ walmart
I use one to hook up my phone and listen to pandora/mp3's
on my car my steering wheel controls still work, so I can control the volume there, instead of messing with my phone while driving
