Should I get the Type R 10's?

Hey everybody My name KC. I trying to see what people thought about Alpine Type R 10 inch subs(SWR-T10). As we all know the g35 coupe doesn't have a lot of trunk space, so I'm looking to get these subs because of size and I've always been a fan of alpine.

So, my question is how does everyone like their type r subs (if you have them), or would anyone recommend something different that would hit hard and save on some space. Thank you in advance.

Type R's are decent price/performance, but I think I'd spend a little more and get an Image Dynamics IDQ10 or Sundown SA-10.

The new type r's with the little r sound damn good. The older ones are pretty meh.

They can get loud if put in the right box, but... since you want to save trunk space, with a smaller enclosure they don't sound that good (Type-R's SQ is not great regardless). I have 2 IDQ10's in a sealed box but am not satisfied with the output so I'm going to build a ported box and get a single 12.

What's your budget? And do you have an amp already?

They are overrated. Go with the ones Wrather suggested, they are far superior.

I tried the...I guess 2010 model in 3 different boxes and it sounded good in each box.

10" Type R....
Small sealed (.5cubes) was nice and punchy

Med/large sealed (1.25 cubes) was boomier but still nice

Ported (1.5 cubes @ ~35hz) was nice. Nice sub for heavy bass music for the price.

The type Rs have always been my budget sub recomendation when people ask.

@ wrather I've heard of sundowns or dynamic, but I checked them out(online) they seem pretty nice. What about some JL's? A lot of my friend recomended those.

@ magic I guess my budget is gonna around 3 - 4,000 ( for everything) and I don't have an amp yet. just regular old stock system. I'm wanna get rid of the whole bose system. So, I think i wanna put the AVIC-Z130 BT(or better) head unit in first, then get my subs and speakers. All before the end of this year.

@everyone what about infinty speakers? From what I know, they sound great! My best friend had them stock in his galant.

stock infinity and aftermarket infinity are totally different

Stock are usually paper speakers with crappy capacitors used as crossovers

aftermarket are made with much better materials.

I have a Infinity reference sub in one of my first set ups. Sounded really nice in a ported box.

Which infinity line are you looking at?

FYI, if your searching used, 10" Type R in good condition, say 12 - 18 age months;

sell $70 - $85 shipped on Ebay auction or Craigslist sell price.

Local pick up could be $50 - $65 right now.

I recently check out the most competitive "used pricing" for myself.
