Thanks--

Do you know the models of the alpine and clarion you have run? Which do you prefer for cosmetics/functionality? These are both major issues for me. Do you happen to have any pictures? I'd like to see some options as I have a friend looking for (used) HU options.

Bottom-line this HU is made to integrate specifically for iPhone/iPod products.

It's a great unit yes, and has other inputs that you could plug your phone into. In your case i assume you could use the included cable for USB hookup to your andriod.

BUT **(from my understanding)**to truly be capable of using this HU to its full potential you have to be able to connect(iPhone) to run Pandora and other apps in 'app mode' that I mentioned earlier like the MotionX, Netflix, YouTube, and other apps, etc. to run off my 3G. I just would not want to trouble shoot issues related to. Trying to use a different device aside from an apple device.

The cable that came included in my package only hooks up to iPod and the like. You could take off part and run straight USB to your devices.

Just look into this and make 100% sure that the unit would integrate with your specific device. I say this because I mainly run pandora, iTunes and related apps, etc.

Definitely not impossible. Actually, it is quite easier than one would imagine!

Look up the AT shift **** thread marketplace>vendor classifieds>vendor accessories I believe it's by sxcxex or something close to that is his name on here. It is expensive $115 and up shipped for a **** kit. But very high quality part.

What year is your G? Mine is 2005. Anyway---pop **** off by pulling boot down off ****, then remove metal clip.

Then, once **** is off, put your G into drive and pop up the shifter bezel/trim with a silicone kitchen spatula.

You'll see on the underside of the trim piece the metal shifter boot trim ring. You'll have to remove a clip on the inner side of the shift boot. It slides right out and thats pretty much it. Very self explanatory once you get into it.

Note: I had to first remove the inner shifter bezel and the shift boot entirely(I think 3-4 screws then it pops straight off when you pull it.) then I put the boot in-side-out and gained access to the metal clip. Literally slides right out.

Well I dont have a picture of it exactly...the wire you are talking about is for the parking brake its labeled on the pioneer wiring harness. IIRC it's light neon-like green.

This wire is connected to a bypass relay. I bought the relay off a ebay. It's just a relay that attaches to parking brake wire, 12+, and ground. It basically creates a loop and tricks the car into thinking the parking brake is engaged when it is not. This way you can watch video playback while in any gear.

I see no problem with this unit if you don't have an iPhone. I was looking at this unit due to the low price point, 3 sets of 4V pre-amp outputs, accepts the auto-calibration mic, DVD, etc. and I didn't care to spend the extra $500 for GPS. I will be using either an SD card, flash drive, or both for music, so I don't care about what it does with an apple product. All that "made for X" blah blah is marketing fluff.

After seeing the new models though, I am going to get the AVH-P4400BH though. Has HD Radio built in and bluetooth.

To be capable of using the HU to its full abilities----you'll need an iPhone. IE IMO the best park of this HU: PandoraLink

The 'new' model AVH-P4400BH doesnt have any noteworthy updates that justify the price increase. I mean Mixtraxx, which is lame...Sat radio is irrelevent (with an iphone and pandora youtube, and radio apps etc) PLUS if I want to hook up sat radio, all I have to do is plug into the HU...... the Bluetooth is tricky and hard to use with the finicky microphones they use.

SOOO IMO I would stick with a 2011 unit and not pay the extra for a 'new' model. more bang for your buck with the 2011 models.

Amazon has the 4300 for $400, I bought the 4400 for $427. I easily justified the extra $27 for bluetooth and hd radio.

I still think needing an iphone to really use this radio is silly. I could more understand you saying if you have an iphone, you need this radio.
