JL 10w7 question...

Ok so I have a 10w7. I had it in my Civic and it was in the JL HO box, the one tha looks like a red eye.

This box will not fit in my G coupe trunk with Bose. I ordered a Box that's to JL's spec for a sealed box and this sub but it hits no where near as hard as it did in my Civ.

My question is, is there a box out there that will fit in my trunk that is similar to the JL HO box? I know someone in here has to have a W7 in their G and it hits...

Please help!

It's slot ported but it's huge. I'm wanting to find out what other G coupe owners have their W7 in.

JL box specs are always off. They like larger sealed and ported.

That ho box is also tuned in the high 30's..39hz i believe, so it was suited more toward spl.

u want a box tuned low..no higher than 33hz

You should go to a local audio shop or check on caraudio.com to see who makes custom boxes. This is the best way to go as our trunks are really short and most prefab boxes suck anyway.

Most G owners you find are going to have a sealed enclosure...primarily because a ported box needs to be signifigantly larger and a G just doesn't have the room. If you go to any custom car stereo shop though, they should be able to build you a custom ported enclosure that meets JL's specs and fits in your trunk....although afterwards you may no long have a trunk. lol The JL HO box is specially designed for the JL w7. It's got quite a few features that you usually will not find in a typical enclosure....hence why they cost so much. You definetly do not want to put a $1k JL w7 in a generic prefab box. Keep in mind the type of car you put a sub in makes a difference as well...in theory, you could put the exact same sub, amp, box in another car and it will sound totally different simply due to cabin volume, pressure, angles dampening, etc.

I think you should look for a 4080 side enclosure. There are usually a couple for sale in the Marketplace and they have proven performance. Plus you don't use a lot of trunk space. Here's a good pic (not my car):

Either have a shop build u a ported box, or make it urself. There isnt a box out there for our cars that will meet the specs needed for the w7.
