So here's an odd data point: i had bass at 0, treble at +5, and I experienced this issue. I dropped treble to +4, and bass to -1, and there is no issue; the settings persist after shutting off the ignition.
they should still fix it.

bose bungles
This is amazing! I can't believe my eyes. I had a 94 J30 and a 95 G20 with Bose systems. Both were crap that rquired several speaker changes before getting it right. I eventually took the complete system out and replaced with aftermarket stuff. I can't belive Infiniti and Bose haven't improve their systems after all these years. I may think twice about getting a G35. There were other issues I'd better check with you guys about...in other threads. I don't wanna highjack this one.
Well, I happened to have my car today at work, and my office is right across the street from my Infiniti dealer. I'm friendly with everyone there, so I called one of the service writers to come out and confirm if my ears were playing games with me or what. I pulled the car into the service area, he sat in the car with me and heard what I was talking about. We then went into 2 other brand new cars (G35x's w/ premium), I put the radio settings the same as I had in my car (treble on 5, bass on 3) and both cars did the same thing. But when I raised the volume towards 20, it got clear by itself....very odd.
So I just got a call from "Phyllis" at Infiniti Consumer Affairs. Nice lady, she urged me to take it into the dealer for evaluation, and that they would replace the HU with a remanufactured one if they determined there was a problem. I patiently explained to her that the problem did not appear to be MY Clarion unit but THE Clarion unit and I directed her to this forum. She appears to have looked up this thread. She then asked me if I had talked to Clarion about it.
D'OH
I told her I considered it to be Infiniti's responsibility to "talk to Clarion", not mine. At the end of the day, however, she indicated that taking it into the dealer would be the only way to address it. I told her that I didn't see the point of getting a replacement radio that was flawed in the exactly the same way, just to help get the message out that there's a problem.
There's got to be a better way than that.

me too
My '05 AT has this problem. I read this thread and decided to give it a shot. I keep my treble at +5 and my bass at +2, typically. I've played with the bass and it seems to remain at +2, however, knocking my treble down to +4 vastly increases the treble.. just like you all have discovered. Lame.
Not worth a trip to the dealer... yet. I'll probably have them deal with it when I take the car in for its first service. (only got 800 miles on her so far...)
