You just need the all the parts from the shopping list: https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...urce-list.html

You'll need to mount the flip-out single din unit in the top and put the equalizer in the bottom, and your flip-out radio will block the a/c controls when it's flipped out, but it'll work fine:

No, that's a jdm radio trim kit. You can tell by the Ac controls.

Would it be recommended to not buy a kit but to modify the current one. Has anyone here actualy done this . I could just cut it out with the dremel hobby tool.

Unless you have a jdm radio in your car no it can't be modified. I did mine with the metra kit, very decent kit.

What about the fitment of the Metra kit? I've heard mixed reviews about the fitment quality...

Mine fit just fine, only problem is that the color is a bit off. But not that noticeable unless you sit there and stare at it. Mine is the silver color.

I see, I'm still contemplating whether to buy the silver Metra kit or a JDM kit for basically double the price (possibly even without the a/c controls). Maybe I'll get lucky and find one with great fitment & decent color-matching.

If I come across a good deal in a jdm one in the future I'll swap it out. But if not I think it's good kit.

Buttons are what usually turn people off the Metra kit for the 03-04s. For the 05+ units, the metra is plastic while JDM is aluminum, definitely looks bad and has the bad buttons too.

For 03-04, it's an ok way to go, but I'd never use a metra in 05+.

What about the ac control ? Lets say i buy the metra trim, the ac control in the car can stay right.. I dont need a new one. I ask because i saw a link where they show a pic of the oem HU and it looked to be attached to ac controls. ???

The Metra kit comes with its own a/c controls if I'm not mistaken...and the buttons are rubber instead of plastic like the OEM controls.

No, the ac control can't stay. You do need a new one (which will come with the metra or JDM kit). I am telling you because the answers to these questions are sticky'd at the top of the forum:

This one will also answer pretty much any question you'll have in the first 3 posts:
