Single Din Stereo Installation

I just bought a pioneer single din from wal mart for like $70. I was wondering if there was a way to hook up my stereo without having to buy something expensive like a metra kit.

Um, the metra kit is the cheap option. If you can't afford this much, you're really, really going to be screwed when anything mechanical brakes on the car.

Yeah, just find somewhere to mount the new radio, like the glovebox, and splice into the factory wiring while leaving the stock radio in place to operate the climate controls. I'm sure wal-mart carries duct tape and speaker wire to do it that way.

Or you could spend money and do things right... this is a luxury car, so things aren't as cheap as they are for an econobox.

LOL the g35 radio and climate controls are all in one board. that is the problem why people cant just modify the stock trim. Well if you are an engineer and is able to cut the board in half and resolder/connect the wires, then you would be a genius.

Since I had my old unused board after the DD install, I crossed my fingers and cut it to see if any function would remain. Nope. If I had another extra one, I'd probably try and trace some of the connections to see if it's even possible.
