Speakers crackling

Hey guys, Just got a G35 a few months ago. Love the car (wish I waited to get a manual though).

Im having issues with the sound system. Since I have had it, every so often the entire sound system, regardless of input source, in motion or just starting the car, will start producing a crackling sound similar to static but more.. harsh and distinct 'cracks' of sound. This happens for a random time, and does not get affected by changing source, powering the system on/off, changing volume, or turning on/off the car in this state. To my count, its happened approx 7-10 times since I have had the car over the last 3 months. I can also provide a recording of the event if someone wishes. If anyone has any idea of how to fix it without huge expenses that would be amazing. (also the system is the Bose version, not sure if that makes a difference)

Thanks for your help, have an amazing thanksgiving.

Razor

Hey I've also noticed static here and there, I thought it was because the AUX connection sucked or something, but if its the bose amp then id like to address that. Where is the bose amp located and would it be hard to replace?

In the trunk, under the carpet by the spare. It's easy to replace, but it's a good excuse to upgrade to something better (anything).

I gotcha, what would be a good "bolt on" alternative to upgrade to? And will this affect the fact that I currently have a audio system in my trunk(a 10 inch JL sub and 1000w amp) as well? And do you think I should upgrade my speakers as well, idk my car is 6 years old so it might be that time?

See my response to your other thread for speaker recommendation. Just replace the front speakers to go with the sub and you'll have a very good setup. JL amps take the balanced signal from the factory bose headunit just fine, so you could stuck with that brand for the amp and not have to upgrade the headunit at this time.

I have a question about this as well; if I'm replacing the Bose amp and using an Alpine amp that can deliver 50W RMS per channel, is the existing wiring to the speakers sufficient?

Thanks!

Yep, plenty sufficient. I've got 150w RMS per channel going through mine right now.
