Depends on the length of the wire. The route I use in the sedan takes just short of 17 feet to get to the center of the rear deck, since I go up the side of the rear seat it adds a few more feet than going under the back of the rear seat to have the amp on the floor. 8 gauge wire at that length would support about 450w, but if you took the shorter route, it would easily, safely support a 500w amp. 4 gauge would easily support up to 1700w all the way up to 19 feet, which would let you put the amp (or distribution block for multiple amps) pretty much anywhere in the trunk. If you run new wire, I suggest just going with 0 gauge to a distribution bock just to future-proof your installation.

The blue wire on the far right was 17 feet of 0 gauge before being trimmed to fit:

It splits at the distribution block to 600w and 500w amps.

If you wire comes through about there, it's probably of similar length. If it comes through at the floor, it may be only 14' or 12' depending on sedan/coupe.

this is in my coupe, not very long at all, thanks for the reply Wrathernaut, as I seen in this area you are a audio god of men, and I will be doing your double din when I order more parts.

So I should be ok with a 500 W amp, but if I want to go bigger then I go with 4 gauge.

the kit i had was 16.5' long, and I have 3' easily be removed

Depends on the efficiency of the amp. Not ideal imo but w.e. check to see if the insulation is 8ga because the cheaper wire the wire itslef is not its true ga.

^ This is true. A POS amp that claims to be a 4000w amp won't draw as much as a quality 500w amp. But assuming the amp actually produces the wattage it claims at average or better efficiency, and the wire is the gauge it claims, it'll be fine.

apparently I am a moron and can hook up the simplest stuff.

went to test amp to see if it got power, hooked up ground and power, nothing...no light on amp (brand new)

question with the remote wire...I didnt see it on the blue harness off the bose amp, could it be the remote wire not making it work, or shitty ground?

How does the fuse on the found 8-gauge look?

Depends on the amp, whether it will turn on when no remote signal is present or not. Shitty ground can also do it.
