I think I'm getting pretty close to ordering the DD kit, an Eclipse AVN5435, and a PAC steering wheel interface for my G... but I have a few last minute questions/confirmations.

I have a 2005 G35 Coupe without the Premium Package. I do not have the Bose stereo. Will not having the Premium Package or Bose stereo cause any problems for me?

No one mentions antennas for the AVN5435. Does the AVN5435 have an internal antenna or will I have to mount an antenna somewhere on my G?

Is there room to put the PAC SWI in the cavity by the DD unit or will I have to locate it in the glove box or somewhere? Where is a good spot to locate it? I am planning to wait for the new PAC SWI that will connect directly to the Eclipse AVN5435.

Thanks...

Thanks. I'm trying to make sure I don't get almost all the way done and then something doesn't work/fit/whatever and it's because I have the non-Premium stereo.

Hmm... Does it have self adhesive stickum or something? I wouldn't want to have to drill a hole in my dash.

Day 1

Thanks to Grider35c (KIA) I can go ahead with the rest of my project/install.... Kia came over lass nite 2 work on my double din kit. Let ,me tell you guys. If you live in or anywhere near SoCal it is definitely worth the $200. No headaches and he did it on the 1st try....Thankx again KIA...He was at my pad til 2am. Determined mother f'er. I'll tell you some of the details later. Today bought most of the rest of my system... and took back some old shtuff. Took back a 12w6, mb quart prem. 6.5 components, audio control lc6 w/remote and my old box and stuff. Bought a 12w7 , jl 1000/1, and mb quart qsd 6.5's. My installer started to build my system that will take approx. 2 1/2 weeks. He will tub my trunk in fiberglass, weld ampracks out of steel box tubing, and he is goin to have it all paintmatched Obsidian Black from a custom painter. Here are some pix from KIA's 1st time try soldering and some of the amprack shtuff. Sorry for the bad quality but my dig cam needed baterries and i was too lazy to put em in. These pix are from cam phone...1st 3 pix are Kia , The ac controls and my old system partially in coming out...

Anyone else have the problem with the Nissan Dash pocket not fitting into the new double din dash plate? I tried it last night and it does not fit, flush or otherwise in the bottom location. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Eric

Eric,

Did you fix this? I'm having the same issue.

Thanks,

Where do you all mount the IR transmitting LED for the PAC SWI (Steering Wheel Interface) unit? I want to keep my steering wheel controls, but I don't want to drill a hole in my dashboard to do it.

PAC's documentation says to mount the LED so it will shine on the front of the player. Do you guys put them in the headliner or something?

Very nice installation... professional.

I guess you just wind the cable up the right A pillar and under the headliner? Do you have to undo the headliner from the roof?

Does a passenger block the signal? I suspect that it doesn't, or you wouldn't have put it there... but it looks like it would.

passenger doesnt block it...

the headliner that touches your dash pops out, u just need to use force...

Did you cut a hole?

Hard to tell if you cut a hole in the headliner, or just squeezed the LED transmitter between the headliner and the trim piece.

ok..here's another question. Someone asked about the need for the JDM AC controller, and the answer was that is was married to the Bose unit. What if I have the non-Bose system. Do i still need the new controller?
