After doing the DD installation, my installer said that he had to break off some parts that was glued or something to get the dual climate button off. However, the 2 clips did not break so the button was loose but would not fall out. He had to cut some sponge or something and stick it to the button so that it wouldn't be loose an all. Did any of you guys encounter this problem?

oh crap... It still works but now that I know its broken... what do you suggest I do?
There are 4 clips on the button if i'm not mistaken
The two outermost are broken.
Taking pics of the broken off parts from the stock AC controller.. will upload them in a few minutes

mind explaining this "insurance" you mentioned? I'll check if they have it.
I feel kinda bad knowing that they broke it, but I really don't have the heart to tell them to fork it out and get another one either if it costs them the whole system. The button doesn't feel the same as the others and its visible under lighted conditions that theres something holding the button up. I'm not even sure if its gonna stay intact forever.
Also, how much did it cost them to get another button or the a/c plate or did they have to get the whole HU for $1200 just for the button.

well i got it done at good guys, and like all big companies, they carry insurance... im not sure how much they paid for it but they got me a new button, and a new shift **** (5at)...
you are 100% entitled to a brand new one, i would push it cause the light doesnt show thru it and it will eventually get worse in time...
go back and tell them they broke it and it NEEDS to get fixed

If you paid for the install then the leastthey could do is either refund your install costs or replace what they broke.
I had the dealer try to charge me for a part they ruined while working on my car. My retort to their attempt to charge me for thier mistake was "if I wanted an amateur to diag and repair I would have done it myself; I brought this to you guys becasue you are supposed to know what you are doing."
Ithey break something while doing paid work they have to accept responsibility. Over time it will get worse and you will get more upset about it. If they do not fix it file a report with teh BBB or take them to small claims.
Just my two cents. I hope it works out for you.

hmmm short of buying a new or salvage replacement I really can't think of any other way to make it whole again. If you comuncated to them that their paste it up fix was satisfactory the that really ends any other recours you might have other than the aforementioned solution.
I have worked with plastics and plexi as a hobbiest for about 7 years and I can't really think of an easy DIY fix for this. You might try going to a hobby shop of a sign shop that works wit plastics to see if they might be able to do something with it. Everytime I go to one of these shops and chat with one of the old timers I learn something new; I am sure someone with more expeirence with restoration expirence wouldbe more resourceful.
Good luck.

they broke the whole clip off . so.. i think the DCC button looks exactly like the "dead" button on the JDM a/c controller which is without top portion(totally broken off... its still attached to the original controller. I'm amazed how dumb they were.. the didn't take the whole faceplate apart...if they did that, they would've figured how to get the button out of there. I've never done anything technical before.. well maybe a few PG and MG gundam models but anyways, even I figured out how to get it outta there within 2 minutes.).
got the quote for the a/c controller :
My name is Eddie and I am the Assistant Parts Manager at Frontier Infiniti. For VIN # JNKCV54EX5M425550 the A/C Control Unit costs $339.56. The part number is 27760-AC705. If there are any questions regarding this quote, feel free to call me at 408-243-4524.
Thanx,
Eddie Fierro,
Frontier Infiniti.
so I paid around 420~430ish for the installation...,the stereo shop wouldn't have made any profit out of the installation on my car. This is my first time trying to account for someone elses responsibility(always had parents to do the dirty stuff, yeah don't flame me, everyone has their first time) and it feels really bad.

found this on infinti-parts.com
27760AC705 $332.90 $0.00 $262.99
Instrument panel - Cluster and switches - Amplifier - Ac control
W/dual zone ac 2005
see if they will split the cost or comp some additional services. It is easier for a business to asborb a loss in time than it is in capital.
