Subs Cut Out & High Pitched Noise..

Im getting an orange light on my JL 500/1 , "Low ohms" I guess it says.. it only happens when I turn up the volume or a real bassy song plays.. when my subs stop working and I cut off all volume I get a real high pitched noise from my speakers and in my trunk.. any advice would be helpful. I didnt do the amp install, Best Buy did.

Is the amp set to LPF, HPF or full? It should be set to LPF for a sub.

You also say "SUBS" how many of what ohm subs are hooked up to it, and how? Parallel? Series? The 500/1 isn't 1 ohm stable, so if they put two 2 ohm subs in parallel, that'll cause the protect mode to turn on.

well thatll suck if the amps faulty.. I bought it off eBay from a top rated seller that sold is Used but everything working.. thatll blow.. I figured since it only happens at high volume and **** that it just was a wiring problem..

if op doesnt know the details of the install only thing he can do is take it best buy to diagnose. that would be much easer than typing back and forth here with no results

the wires going into the sub terminals are a positive and negative wire for each subwoofer

and they correspond to the wires connected at the subs? if thats the case nothing special was done regarding wiring to the subs and would lead me to think its a fault in the amp itself. u have aftermarket deck or oem?

Turn the infrasonic filter to on, and the freq setting for it to 25hz, the 10w0v3 doesn't go below that.

Can't tell if the input sensitivity (gain) is at max or like 30%, but if it's at max, lower it to get rid of the whine, if it's only at about 30% already, your ground may be bad, or there's a input level mismatch - Where do the RCAs go to in the stock wiring? Can you get a photo of that? If they're going into the post-amp wiring, the amp is configured wrong.

It really is a lot of things that could be wrong, so you're probably best taking back to the shop, hopefully there's a tech there who knows how to do it right.

its probably at 30%. theres no way a installer would intentionally set it that high
