12v outlet stays on when car is off?

The 12v power outlet in my 05 sedan constantly stays on, even when the car is off. It powers my dashcam and radar, and I don't want them draining the battery overnight.
Any ideas?

I think it only stays on for 20 minutes, you can time it to be sure.

It was still on when I came out to the car this morning after 8 hours unfortunately. Not sure what's up because my 04 never had this problem

Do you have multiple 12v outlets? Typically the ones designated as "cigarette lighters" will be full time powered, ones designated as "12v outlets" will be relay controlled to timer off after ignition has been shut off.

I only get power to the cigarette lighter with the ignition on. Sedan may be different

You may want to consider hardwiring a voltage cutoff if you plan on leaving things plugged in. It will cut off power once the volts get too low so it won't drain your battery. Usually you can set the limit. Some dashcams have them built in
