BCM not showing when plugged in
I was having problems with my fob connecting and the voltage was 1.5 instead of 4.5 from the bcm to the receiver but i ended up getting a new fob and it worked because i recieved the car with a viper but needed the oem fob. Anyway my mechanic wanted to check the programming of the bcm and also program 2 new keys i bought but his handheld tablet looking device was not recognising the bcm. It would read service codes but the bcm wouldnt show up. Does that mean its a bad bcm. Im not sure if he had it on acc or on position if that matters. I think he had it to on and i was trying to program my fobs and they didnt work until i realized i was putting it to on instead of acc. Could it be the same difference as to why the bcm is not showing up or connecting cause i dunno if i should ask him to try again. I bought a used bcm to replace it from ebay but i dont want to install a new bcm if i dont have to. Anyone know what to do if the bcm is not being recognised and so cant program new keys or if it needs to be on acc or on position when trying to connect. Thank you for reading

The BCM is programmed via the ECM, if you haven't had the dealership program the ECM to accept the new BCM then that's the likely problem.
It's also possible to do this yourself (as well as registering keys) by using the NDS2 software for PC, you will need to decode the BCM serial number first, there's a few websites that offer this service for a small fee, the site listed in this post is still possibly offering decoding for free.

The 05' and 06' Intelligent remotes are difficult to program and might need a consult to program, the old school remotes are very simple if the car doesn't have Intelligent key system. Type #1 - The standard Nats system with old remotes have a flat ignition and take the old standard Nissan type keys. Type #2 - The newer (optional) Intelligent entry system uses the weird keys that fit inside of the remote and the ignition has a plastic shroud that the key fits into so it can be started with or without the key as long as the Intelligent remote is in the car. If your car can start / run and the windows and locks are working your BCM is probably fine. Also if your car starts that means your BCM/ECU and key programming match. Probably the scanner can't program this type of system or maybe the Viper install (nats bypass) is messing with it in some way.
