Gear and tachometer not working or not fully lit
My 2006 instrument cluster has 2 problems. The led for the part that shows what gear you are in is not working and the tachometer is really really dim. I pulled the cluster out and checked the leds and they light up fine when testing. When i put it back on the car the rev light showed for a couple minutes and the tachometer led was light like normal for a few minutes. The gear one was not on long enough for me to see if it would change if i put it in a different gear. Just the rev lit up. Im not sure if on an 06 if it just shows you if you in reverse or all the gears. Its a 6mt. I dont understand how the leds worked when i tested them with a volt meter on diode mode and then work for a few minutes but then having the gear one stop working completely and the tachometer going so dim i cant see it unless i get really close in the dark. Any ideas?

My guess is your combination meter circuit board is suffering from old age due to expansion and contraction of the various seasons. Eventually components start to peel off and don't make contact anymore, no harm in checking the ground stud which is behind the meter but there's a really good chance you're going to be shopping for a new meter.
Should be under section DI, Driver Information. I don't believe there's an actual schematic for it though, just a layout for the harness.
