I have a 2003 G35 Sedan and I am upgrading my head unit from an old single-din aftermarket unit (in an existing double-din Metra kit) to a newer Sony double-din unit with Android Auto and a back-up cam.

While I’m at it I’d like to add some steering wheel controls like these. My steering wheel is stock and only has the cruise controls on the right side with a blank plate on the left side where there would be the volume/media controls. I want to add volume and media controls on the left side to hook up with some kind of steering wheel controls interface box like the Metra ASWC-1 or PAC SWI-RC.

My question is: Can I simply swap out the single cruise controls I have with dual controls that have both cruise and volume/media buttons? Or is the wiring that these controls plug into specific to only one or the other kind of controls?
